Weins Canada Inc. is currently recruiting an experienced Assistant Controller to join our Accounting team. Weins Canada has built a reputation for success becoming one of the country's largest automotive groups that take pride in operating 14 dealerships.

Responsibilities

  • Full-cycle accounting ensuring all month-end and year-end financial reports are completed accurately and in a timely manner. 
  • Ability to prepare a complete financial statement monthly according to guidelines and the manufacturer's format.
  • Ensure that all standard accounting policies, procedures, and controls are consistently and accurately applied and that all applicable federal, provincial, and local regulatory laws and regulations are adhered to.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable, cash flow management, and general ledger.
  • Reconciliation and submission of various monthly remittances (GST, PST warranty, etc.).
  • Provide leadership, training, and direction to the accounting department personnel and direct all aspects of the department.
  • Liaise with managers in the dealership and support them with their accounting, budgeting cost control, and financial analysis needs.
  • Analyze and generate financial reports to management in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain an up-to-date, complete, and systematic filing system to support accounting and financial records to meet regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years dealership accounting experience
  • Degree/Diploma in accounting, finance or related field or equivalent related experience
  • Strong accounting technical knowledge including financial statement preparation 
  • Able to deliver accurate results and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge with Reynolds and/or PBS DMS software
  • Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail
